Global Supply Chain from Dholera, Gujarat
Tata Electronics’ upcoming semiconductor chip plant in Dholera, Gujarat, will require around 450 suppliers to operate. To accommodate these companies, a massive 363-acre VENDOR PARK is being developed right next to the fab facility.
The key points shared by Utpal Shah, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Tata Electronics, during a panel discussion at SEMICON 2026 are as follows:
- A Network of 450 Companies: An ecosystem of approximately 450 suppliers is being established to support the Dholera fab. This will include a mix of both domestic and international suppliers.
- Mandatory Proximity to the Plant: Semiconductor manufacturing is a highly capital-intensive industry. The plant operates 24/7 and cannot afford downtime even for a few hours. To prevent any operational disruptions, an immediate and constant supply of raw materials and machinery is essential.
- 363-Acre Vendor Park: To meet this critical requirement, a dedicated 363-acre vendor park is being constructed. Utpal Shah emphasized that it will be mandatory for every supplier to establish a physical presence or base in close proximity to the Tata fab plant.
The primary objective of this strategy is to ensure that India’s first commercial fab is continuously supported by a robust, localized, and uninterrupted global supply chain.
