Nexperia has become a major global client and technology partner to Tata’s facilities
The Rupees 91,000 crore (approx. $11 billion) 300mm semiconductor fab plant currently being built in Dholera is entirely funded and owned by Tata Electronics (if we include their Assam plant, Tata’s total commitment is around $14 billion).
Under this new deal, Nexperia has become a major global client and technology partner to Tata’s facilities.
What will happen in Dholera (Front-End Wafer Fabrication): Large-scale production of Nexperia’s ‘MOSFETs’ (a class of power semiconductor chip used in automotive and industrial applications) will be done at Tata’s Dholera fab.
What will happen in Assam (Back-End Assembly): After the raw chips are made in Dholera, the packaging, assembly, and testing of Nexperia’s products will occur at Tata’s facility in Jagiroad, Assam.
When will manufacturing start?
Since Nexperia’s chips will be made inside Tata’s Dholera fab, it all depends on when the Tata plant will be ready. Currently, the construction of Tata’s Dholera plant is quickly progressing, and aims to begin full commercial production by late 2026 or early 2027. As soon as this plant is ready, the manufacturing of Nexperia’s products will start.
