Successful landing of the first aircraft at Greenfield Airport in Dholera

Testing was conducted by the Airports Authority of India following the successful landing of the first aircraft at the Greenfield International Airport being constructed near Pipli in the Dholera SIR area. As soon as the VT-CNS aircraft safely touched down on the runway, authorities welcomed it with a traditional water cannon salute. With this successful trial, international connectivity will be strengthened in the future.

Dholera airport becoming operational will develop the Bhal region, reduce the burden on Ahmedabad airport, and increase global investment. The first aircraft successfully landed at the greenfield airport being prepared near Pipli in the Dholera SIR area. This successful testing of the VT-CNS aircraft by the Airports Authority of India is considered an important milestone in the infrastructure development of Dholera. After the safe landing of the aircraft, a traditional water cannon salute was given by the Airport Authority, and two fire tenders created a water arch to welcome the plane.

Following this initial success, expectations have grown stronger that Dholera Airport will secure a prominent place among Gujarat’s important airports in the future. It is anticipated that this airport will accelerate industrial development, investment, trade, tourism, and new employment opportunities in Dholera SIR. Furthermore, making it operational is expected to reduce the air traffic burden on other airports in the state, including Ahmedabad, while strengthening international connectivity.

According to experts, making Dholera Airport operational will accelerate the economic development of the Bhal region and its surrounding areas. Following the success achieved in the initial testing at the airport, Dholera will once again attract the attention of global investors.

An air cargo terminal will be constructed at the airport, 3.2 km runway is being prepared at the international cargo airport being built near Navagam, Pipli in Dholera. A parking stand for 12 aircraft and a 10,700 square meter air cargo terminal are being built here. This facility includes a 2,450 square meter international cargo built-up area, an 8,800 square meter paved area, and a 4,260 square meter airside ramp area for cargo handling, where separate sections have been designated for import and export.
