World’s first semi high speed rail project system Dholera New Rail Line – Train will Run at 220 km/hr, Sarkhej-Dholera-Bavaliyari, Connectivity To Lothal, Dholera Airport
To ensure that people get easy connectivity from Ahmedabad up to Dholera, a new railway line will be laid by the Railway from Sarkhej to (Dholera) Bavaliyari. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared by the Railway for this project and sent to the Railway Board for approval. The plan is to complete the entire project within approximately 36 months after receiving approval from the Railway Board.
Under the Ahmedabad-Dholera Semi High Speed Rail Connectivity Project, a branch line will be prepared along with the Sarkhej-Dholera doubling track to connect the National Maritime Heritage Complex and Dholera Airport. This project, which is to be built at a cost of approximately ₹6,000 crores, is being developed as a semi high speed rail prototype for the entire country, which will also work to provide fast connectivity between Ahmedabad and the Dholera Special Investment Region. The Railway also has a plan to extend this railway line in the future from Bavaliyari up to Bhavnagar. After this plan, the connectivity between Ahmedabad and Saurashtra will become much stronger.
World’s first semi high speed rail project system, train will run at a speed of 220 km/hr. The Sarkhej-Dholera Broad Gauge Line will be the world’s first semi high speed rail project system to be developed on a 1676 mm broad gauge. The train’s maximum potential speed on the Sarkhej-Dholera-Bavaliyari route will be 220 km per hour. This will be the first semi high speed rail system where a mixed traffic system will be implemented. On this route, goods trains will operate at a speed of 100 km per hour, and passenger trains at a speed of 220 km per hour on the same track.
New railway line will start from Sarkhej and go up to Bavaliyari via Vasna Chacharwadi, Dholka, Rupgadh, Lothal Road, Dholera Airport, Ambli, Dholera, Mundi, and Hebatpur. Under this project, a separate railway line will be laid from Lothal Road station up to the world-famous Lothal Heritage Site. Due to getting railway connectivity, the tourism sector will also get a major benefit. Similarly, a separate line will also be laid from the Dholera Airport station to the terminal of Dholera Airport, so that passengers can get the facility to reach the airport directly.
