Dholera to draw Rs. 4 Lakh Crore in data centre investments
Gujarat’s smart industrial city, Dholera, is poised to catapult the state onto India’s data centre map, with potential invest ments in data centre ventu-res pegged at over Rs 4 lakh crore over a period of time.
According to highly placed sources in Gujarat govt, Adani Group is likely to com-mit investments worth Rs 3 lakh crore to set up a data centre at Dholera over a period of time, while other ma-jor corporates are also expected to invest another Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh crore in the data centre ecosystem.
Gujarat govt set the stage for showcasing Dholera as a data centre hub by reserving land for a ‘Data Centre Park’.
The state is also drafting a data centre policy, aligning incentives with those offered by Union govt and peer states, and indicating readi-ness to provide customised incentives to players inten-ding to invest in the sector.
Adani Group zeroed in on Dholera for its proposed data centre venture, and the group’s investment is exрес-ted to be estimated at Rs 3 lakh crore. Other top corpo-rates also evinced interest in setting up data centres at Dholera. The cumulative in-vestment at Dholera in the data centre sector is expес-ted to be more than Rs 4 lakh crore in the coming months, said top sources in state govt.
